The RINA Test Laboratory was established in 1965 to carry out fire resistance and reaction tests for marine applications. Today, following the expansion of activities, fire resistance and reaction tests for building applications, tests on personal protective diving and life-saving equipment are also performed. Moreover, it is a calibration centre for mechanical testing machines. For more information, visit the Laboratory tests for marine and building applications page.
For the railway sector:
The RINA Railway Certification Laboratory was set up in 2011 as a laboratory for certification tests and pre-tests on EUROBALISE, ETCS, GSM-R and EUROLOOP products for use in the railway sector according to European Directive 2008/57/EC on the interoperability of the trans-European conventional and high-speed rail systems.
