CERTIFICATION AND SERVICES IN THE INFRASTRUCTURE AND REAL ESTATE SECTOR
RINA first began operating in the infrastructure and construction sector in the 1970s -1980s by conducting quality audits on large-scale projects and intensified and consolidated its activities in the 1990s.
The milestones along the road that led the RINA Group to build up a portfolio of 23,000 customers in Italy (comprising both the mass market and manufacturing companies) and become a leading player in some of the most important projects in this sector are described below.
1999 - RINA certifies product quality according to the directives governing the application of the CE mark
2000 - the associated company SOA RINA is given the task of auditing the capacity and reliability of enterprises, assessing their suitability to participate in public works tenders
Since 2001, RINA has been an independent third-party auditing body for the validation of public works projects and to provide support to the Procedure Manager, as well as to perform independent technical site control activities (for public and private works) for insurance purposes, especially as regards the issue of the 10-year guarantee policy
2002 - RINA enters the Motorway Infrastructure Quality Certification sector
2003 - RINA, in partnership with Confedilizia, draws up the guidelines for real estate quality certification and issues the relative RINA Rules, introducing the fundamentals of energy certification for buildings
2009 – RINA develops the “Green Building System” service in the field of Environmental Sustainability of Buildings according to recognised international assessment protocols: LEED - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and SBC - Sustainable Building Certification, acting as Technical Advisor and/or Assessment Body for Environmental Sustainability of new buildings and for requalification works.
RINA now plans to become a leading reference organisation for the Real Estate sector as regards the issues introduced by the new law concerning energy certification, particularly for large estates, investors and the banking and insurance sector as well as assessor of the technical/economic feasibility of technical-plant requalification works in buildings.
RINA also acts as a reference technical and market adviser for institutes funding infrastructure and real estate development projects according to project financing/PPP/PFI schemes, as well as project/construction manager for projects at national and international level.
